The English mini-drama was first teased in a fifteen-second video on the cursedmemoir YouTube channel on March 16th, 2012. On March 19th, 2012, an extended version was released. It tells the story of a boy and girl who discover a strange diary in the basement of their house. Like the Japanese mini-drama, it was used to promote Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir prior to its release in the US and Europe.

Characters

Zach - A boy who is going through his family's basement. After his friend finds the Purple Diary, he is haunted by the Woman in Black and vanishes.
Zach's Friend - A girl who is helping Zach. She finds the Purple Diary, and eventually she too is taken by the woman in black.
Ellie - A girl whose family is moving into Zach's former house.

Summary

Zach and his friend appear to be cleaning out the basement of Zach's house. While he sits on the steps playing on his Nintendo 3DS, she finds a diary on the floor and asks whether it belongs to his family, but he doesn't know where it came from. They go upstairs to get a drink, and the shadowy figure of a woman appears in the basement behind them.

Zach puts his 3DS down on the living room table, but as he walks away, it makes a sound like a camera shutter. When he picks it up again, the screen reveals strange marks like ink stains all over the room, and can hear disembodied voices. His friend is in the kitchen, oblivious as a shadow crosses the doorway and the door falls shut.

Back in the living room, Zach takes another picture with the 3DS, and hears a woman's voice say, "I've been waiting." As the dark shadows he saw on the screen manifest in the real world, Zach drops the 3DS and clutches at his face in pain.

His friend hears Zach screaming and goes to check on him. When she enters the living room, however, he is gone. Her attention is drawn by the 3DS falling off the table where Zach dropped it. When she picks it up she can look through the viewfinder and see the same shadows that Zach saw, and as she surveys the room, she sees Zach walking through the doorway, although he is invisible to the naked eye. She follows him, but experiences strange phenomena such as flickering lights and whispering voices, and runs to the basement. When the light will not switch on she grows more nervous, but keeps walking, using the 3DS to light her way.

Eventually, she finds Zach standing in a corner with his face severely damaged. She runs away, but falls on the stairs, and when she looks down she sees herself reflected in the 3DS, disfigured in the same way as Zach. She covers her face and staggers back into the basement, screaming, and then disappears completely.

Some unknown time later, Ellie arrives at the house, and comes to look at the basement. Her mother calls her to help unload the moving van, but as she is about to leave she spots the Purple Diary lying on the floor. She picks it up and takes it upstairs with her. When she turns the light off, the Woman in Black is standing in the corner.
