Something I've always found interesting is the fact that the Kuze Family doesn't force people into the role of shrine maiden, but rather allows people who are candidates to offer for the position. While this is a very compassionate thing to do was it really the best choice of action on their part? I don't support forcing someone to basically give up their life whatever the reason, but in regards to what they were trying to keep from happening was it really smart to make this voluntary?
In a more out of universe example do you think the story benefited from this detail? Or do you feel it damages the ability to sympathize with Reika's inability to let go of her feelings for Kaname?
