GregZerO : (13 February 2018 - 03:35 PM) ^The only reason why I accept these motives is because he was an asshole in his whole life,I can easily imagine getting so much money and success with bad ways,he loved R. ofcourse but that didnt change that fcat that he could be a bad person in general reacting wrong/bad again in a more personal/family related problem
GregZerO : (13 February 2018 - 03:36 PM) (i mean i can imagine him being an asshole in his life in general, its not confirmed anywhere)

It's strange, right? So many people go to the mountain with no intention of killing themselves but end up dying anyway; Fuyuhi and Haruka went with the express purpose of killing themselves, but survived, and were allowed to leave the mountain. Does anyone have any theories about why? (Apart from "game plot required it.")

I can think of two possible reasons. It might have been partly about unresolved feelings - Fuyuhi still wanted to confess, even if Haruka already knew how she felt, and maybe deep down they wanted to die together as more of a lovers' suicide, rather than as part of a group. Or maybe it's about Haruka and her affinity with the maidens; Chiaki was influenced by the Isame, so you'd think the whole group would have died in the same way, but Haruka had greater potential, and either hadn't reached the point where she could return to the water yet, or by Glancing the others as they died, upgraded herself to Box-Class Maiden and was therefore too valuable to be allowed to drown in a lake. That doesn't really explain Fuyuhi, though.

I'd love to hear if anyone else has any ideas!

Couldn't it be just by simple chance?  If I recall correctly the Umbrella lady had been taking flowers up the mountain and praying there for a while before she ended up dying.  At least that's how it sounded from her cutscene.

I'm leaning towards option two.  Maybe it has something to do with the closeness to death creating a resistance to it thing?  Fuyuhi was already determined to die with Haruka, but the others were seemingly just possessed/influenced.

Maybe it a good lock or coincidence or because their bond and some part of them want to continue living.
