It were always interesting for me - why zero?

For me the name like "Zero: shinku no chou" after translation has no more meaning than "Six: shinku no chou" or etc.

Kikuchi talks a bit about it here:

To represent that the enemies in this game are "beings of nothingness", I chose the 0 (零 - zero) symbol. It also has the meaning of "the state of being at one's utmost limit as a decisive moment".

Someone please correct me if I (or more percisely, my Japanese dictionary) am wrong, but 零 can be pronounced as "zero" (and means 0) or "rei", with "rei" also being a word for ghost in Japanese.

Google translate also says that 霊 is ghost and reads it as "rei".

Kinda interesting... but Kikuchi didn't mentioned anything like that

No no, I remember it specifically being mentioned in the past. It references two things. First off, Zero being the circle zero that the camera circles around to when you are photographing ghosts.

Also, since the kanji can also be pronounced as 'Rei' (I believe it's an older form, one of the other mods want to confirm for me?) meaning ghost.

Fatal Frame is FULL of wordplay (and in some cases kanji-play) / double meanings like this. I *KNOW* it's been mentioned in earlier game interviews... @_@

Also, since the kanji can also be pronounced as 'Rei' (I believe it's an older form, one of the other mods want to confirm for me?) meaning ghost.

I remember it had another meaning which was "empty"
