I really want to preorder this one, but I have a few questions.

First, there's still no word on any other region release, is there? I'm totally find with the JP version as long as I can patch it with english subs. Which goes to the next question...

Second, do you think there will be an english patch made for it? I can't read or speak japanese, so I'd need a patch to get through the game and know the story.

If they localize the game they more than likely aren't going to announce it before the game has been released in Japan.  I say wait until the Hollywood movie has been released.  They may very well be planning on releasing this game around the same time as the Hollywood movie in order to encourage sales and promotion of both.  If there's still no word of localization after the movie is released then I think it would be best to assume the worst.  But as of now it's still too early to.

I think so too. I'm sure they are going to wait and see how the game's going to sell in japan and possibly if any fans outside of japan show intrest in first place.
If the announcement is to come about localization, I'd guess maybe next year? Possibly depending on how the movie goes on.

It didn't stop Wii Edition from getting announced for localization in Europe and Austria 2 months before the Japanese release. Australia had it the same day as Japan and Europe had it a day later. I would still give it a year's time. Maybe Tecmo or Nintendo has too much on their plate. To release something you need to have to make sure they are released at a right time that it wont overlap other products you are releasing or be overlooked by other products (from another company) that would take the spotlight away from your product.

I wouldn't recommend pinning your hopes on it. In two years, nobody's figured out how to get past the region lock on Wii U games, and patching would be more complicated. If it did happen it would be probably years down the line. A translated script is possible, especially if we go a certain amount of time with no US/Europe release announcement, but as things are now, I think a patch is unlikely.

Still, as pk and calne said, I wouldn't assume anything about localisation yet. It's natural to fear the worst after what happened with FF4 and DCB, but I remember after FF4 came out, when we all took it for granted it was going to get localised eventually, nobody thought it was all that strange that they didn't give dates right away. It was a few months before we all started to get worried.

As of now there is no news of release outside of Japan. Somehow I got a feeling that Nintendo holds the absolute decision of whether Fatal Frame V will be localized.

While I really hope that Nintendo of America would do all they can to support their 3rd party developers and boost the sales of the Wii U, I do not know if Nintendo of America shares the same amount of fondness for the Fatal Frame series as Nintendo of Japan. I still get the feeling that Nintendo of America is more focused on trying to market their console as a family friendly system. But thats just my own opinion and might not be true.

I personally won't be able to wait for the localization. I already pre-ordered my Fatal Frame V, and will be getting a used Wii U console just to play it. :)

No word about a Western release so far. After the *beep* they pulled with Fatal Frame 4, it's natural to start getting worried and expect the worst. I'm trying to stay calm here but I'm starting to panic somewhere deep inside my soul.

Well, I guess I'll just have to learn Japanese.... oh, the things I do for this franchise. -sits in a corner and sulks-

Let's not forget, they did release Spirit Camera at a time when perhaps they thought the 3DS sales needed a boost.  Here's hoping they feel the same about the Wii U.  Recent reports indicate that Nintendo isn't doing too well, and considering that the CEO of Nintendo of America who would have said no to localizing prior FFs (I forget his name) is no longer calling the shots, I think we have a decent chance here.

^This.  The wait will be agony, but if we can hold out Nintendo just might make our dreams come true.

And gain a console sale from me. :)

I don't think a lot of people are even waiting that long, considering we've got 2 years easy for the movie to be released. I agree however, I don't believe we'll get it and I really don't think we'll be receiving any future Fatal Frames. Reggie has made it pretty clear he doesn't like the series.

It cannot be said for sure though.
IV didn't come outside of Japan, but Wii Edition did come to eu as well as Spirit Camera.

Nintendo havent been as stupid as of lately. No ceo in their right mind would withold a game that uses their hardware- struggling hardware -to the fullest potential from the rest of the world, thats the epitemy of stupidity. Iwata has stated he aims to bring more japanese games to the west, the only games for wii u that havent made it out are mmo's like dragon quest and monster hunter g. Besides werent there good reasons for 4 ? Like it was bugged to hell and no one wanted to shell out the cash to fixed it and NOA said they were focusing on wii u and thats why DCB got the shaft. I imagine we will get some form of information about it. I have no idea how well it will do, bayo 2 has sold over 30k in 2 days which is good considering its got smash to contend with on the 3ds which is japans primary console - fatal frame 5 may suffer the same problem- and hyrule warriors sold 100k which i suppose is no bad for tecmo. I dont think it was that high of a budget

Yeah definitely it would be a smart move on their part, but Nintendo NA isn't very smart lmao

I just wish there was a way to talk with them personally to show them how much we really really want it XD This series has fans but some of them aren't as big as us so nobody thinks to speak up when they get to ask the questions. Hopefully with Hyrule warriors doing good and then the DoA addage it'll help boost their decision to trying it out?? We just gotta hope~~ Idk man its like 3am this probably sounds like rambles. Scratch that it's 4am holy crap i need to go to bed

Bayonetta 2 didn't do very well  in their first week... I think generally speaking there are just too little fan support for the Wii U. Not a lot of people bought the Wii U, thus developers are less willing to support the console. With less titles coming out for the Wii U (at least in comparison to PS4), less people are going to buy the console. Its a vicious cycle unless Nintendo really makes the effort to break it.

I guess we can only wait for the new Smash Brothers to boost Wii U console sales. If that doesn't work, the next console sales peak might be as late as the new Zelda..

I say people are just being inpatient. The worries are legit since 4 didn't get an release. But the reason why it didn't is also known, or have people forgotten about that? And DCB did even though it didn't make it to america, it did for the rest so easy down people.

Look at the playstation releases of the games. I can guess since DCB was a remake and 2 was already popular that it didn't leave that much release space inbetween countries.

But if you look at 1,2 and 3 even though Nintendo wasn't the main producer, it still had at least six months inbetween country releases. So take it easy, have some more faith and especially patience, and stop whining for those who still have hope, claiming you're realistic, you aren't simply because nothing's yet known.

Give it time.

p.s just like Reala said, 4 was bugged like hell and Nintendo stated it was too expensive to fix for outside Japan release.
